I'm pretty sure this is somewhere on the board.  Maybe on the old board? Obviously, the right pit can do the work.  Can you imagine the liability of having an attack trained pitbull on a police force in America. I have heard of pit drug and search dogs.  But, I think the media would spin a pit attack dog into a bad thing for the pit.   Plus Mals and Sheps are better for that kind of job.

I am happy that pitbulls are being used for work. Although i have read most of them are not  suitable for civil protection work. Dianne jessup does a great job of not promoting them as protection dogs. I don't know much about pitbulls' abilities to fight a man but i wish they could. Any info on this would be much appreciated.

You have to get the right one. And then it also helps to have a trainer that has APBT experience. When you do that, they are awesome dogs for their size.

Trust me the right pitbull will bite a human. DJ isn't exactly the best unbiased source for info on the pitbull IMO. She's mostly right on with info, but she has an agenda, that is for sure. To me it has to do a lot with training. Like Lee says, you have to find a trainer with APBT experience that knows how to get what they need out of a game dog.

Understand there are a crap load of Shepherds and other traditional PP breeds that would never bite a man for real.

Also, there are a lot of famous game dogs that were willing to bite a man. Bullyson for one.

I think a good bulldog can be trained to do just about anything.I am speaking from my own personal experiances with them over a life time of coarse. Here is my kids house dog Soot I train with Bill.He is the most clear headed sound dog arouned, but will be as serious as any dog out their when need be.I trust me and my families life with him and I know he would give his for ours in a heart beat. I do think they are for profesional dog handlers, or more experinced for sure. But when trained properly they are hard to beat . I was training my EB for sport when he came down with Valley Fever and I had to stop. I stole the kids house dog Soot from them ,and the rest is history. Here is a short vid of his first car jacking when he was around a year old.

Thanks a lot people. I understand that dianne jessup doesn't want more negative press for  pitbulls.
