Hey Lee,  I have the opportunity to get a  puppy from a band dog breeder . He has a bull mastiff, AB, and  cane corso mix very  nice  looking dogs but  definetly not   chimera.  I just  was wondering  in your past have you come  across any  mixes like this and  seen  the out come of the  product.

I am NOT trying to disrespect what other people do...but I myself have no interest in using Bull Mastiff or American Bulldog in a bandog program. None of these 3 are known for endurance, heat tollerance, or general consistent health. Sure, there are good specimens within each of these breeds, but you have to KNOW the dogs themselves. And, by "know the dogs" I don't just mean what you see...you also need to know their heritage. Are they linebred? If so, are their lines consistent for certain traits? Etc.

I know of several people that have used these breeds, but they were with other breeds...and not all in the same dog. However, even if I had it wouldn't really matter. Breeding programs are more about the individual dogs. Two dogs can both be the same breed, and still be totally different dogs. This is certainly true with all 3 of the breeds you mentioned. It would depend on what type of BM, AB, and CC. Not all are equal. Were the parents working dogs? Are they tested and proven? And, even if they are...crossing 3 unrelated breeds will likely produce a great deal of inconsistency...and who knows which traits the pups will receive. I suspect some will look like ABs, some mastiffs, some corsos, and some will look like combos. In other words, unless the breeder has KNOWN INFORMATION about each of the dogs, how tight they are bred, and what the tend to produce...the breeding is likely to be a crap shoot. Anyway, no offense intended...but it is my opinion. Bandogs are not produced from cross breeding. Bandogs are produced from working and tested stock.
