I was finally able to get a little more done. I've got the siding done, and the bays are framed out and mostly walled in, the plumbing is also finished. I still have a lot to do, but I'm glad it's coming along. That's the last time I put up plywood by myself if I can help it, it's not really a one man job. I'm just glad everything's still square, but I'll be glad to have it when the next litter comes.

As I get time, and weather permitting I'll do more and put up pictures of my progress.

I did get a chance to work on it some I've got the storage area in the back framed out I've got the insulation up I've finished 90% of the caulking and I've got the waterproofer down on the inside. I still have to wire it, paint it, cement the bays, build some shelving, and finish the roof, then it's just trim work. I'll try to put up some new pictures tomorrow.

I finally got the whelping house wired for 220 and 110. The AC/Heater is 220 and of course the light is 110. I build the door, finished the roof, cemented the bays (it was harder to slope for the drain and keep it smooth than I expected) and put up my safety bumpers in the bays, to keep pups from getting squished. All I really have left to do is paint, close in the storage area on the back and build some shelves over the sink and near the ac for random stuff. Then all I'll need to do is put some cedar shavings down in the bays and I'll be ready for pups. I guess I'll be building shelves next, hen hopefully it will warm up enough for oil paint to dry.

David, it looks great!!

Where did you get the heater/Ac unit? And about how much was it? I was looking for one like that when I was finishing the inside of my snake building. I  got a single Ac unit and I have been running an oilfilled electric heater all winter. The combo worked well but I wish it was contained in one unit.

What ever you water proof the bays and concrete with...make sure you do an excellent job. Do you have a spray gun? If so, I know of a excellent epoxy finish that can be applied by sprayer that will actually penetrate the wood if it is dry....and I am sure it will soak into the concrete too...and then you can cover it with another form of epoxy paint should you so desire.

As it is I used thompsons waterproofer, I was thinking about doing another coat. I do have a wagner and a garder type sprayer, what do you recomend?

The ac/heater I traded some private martial arts classes for, to a guy who flips houses and had several. I like it a lot, it works well and it's convenient.

It looks good David.

Back when I was into traditional archery, I was educated on a finish that a bowyer used on his bows. He referred to it as the "Massey finish." It was composed of Devcon 2 ton epoxy (not the 5 minute stuff) diluted with acetone at a ratio of 1 part epoxy to 5 parts water. You mix the epoxy in the acetone. The acetone prevents the epoxy from setting up hard (for a while anyway) as long as it is kept in a jar with the lid on in order to prevent the acetone from evaporating. After a few days though I would trash it and make a new batch. The reason it is mixed with acetone is to make it a WATERY like consistency instead of a sticky syrup like substance. When it is mixed well, it will slosh around just like water or pure acetone. The purpose for this is it allows the epoxy to SOAK INTO the wood. Then when the acetone evaporates, you end up with an epoxy impregnated finish that can't scratch off. It seems to be very weather resistant, so I figured it would work well for puppy messes as well.
