Here are a couple of pics (and a short video) of Dro in his 1st snow outing. While Atlanta does snow every now and again, it never sticks. However, we had some good accumulation today. Anyway, here goes.--- http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y296/marcosdad123/drointhesno002.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y296/marcosdad123/drointhesno005.jpg
Next, ever since my female APBT was stolen in 2004, I always wanted to have made a collar that locked--b/c even though the dog was tied out and the tie out was locked down, they were able to simply slip the collar. Well, i recently came across a guy that made one for me. And the good thing about it is itfits up to 10 different neck sizes. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y296/marcosdad123/drointhesno003.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y296/marcosdad123/drointhesno004.jpg
Here is a pic of my darlin APBT Daisy http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y296/marcosdad123/daisy.jpg
And lastly, Dro in the Snow!!!

I like the collar it's an interesting Idea. I know of several "pitbull" breeders who've gotten bandogs to protect their breed stock dogs from theft. One was an American Bully breeder who paid 20,000 dollars for a bitch out of a pair of show champions from California. While she wasn't my type of dog she did look good, but I don't think any dog is worth 20,000 dollars in pretty alone. I figure he was going to try and make his money back by showing her then breeding her. Unfortunately she was stolen before her first show. At least with her she was probably stolen because of the high price tag, and not to be thrown in a pit as a "practice dog". Unfortunately I think that's what most pit type dogs are stolen for. I even have a guy on my waiting list right now from New Orleans, who had his prize pit stolen from the kennel on the back of his truck in a parking lot, it was even caught on film, but they never found the thief or the dog. It seems stealing pitbulls is all too common. In fact Morrigan's dam (Dane,Pit,Neo,Bullmastiff) lives in south Jackson (the bad part of town) and someone tried to steal her as a pup that's how she got her first "live bite". I doubt you'll have to worry about anyone walking off with Dro.

Daisy is a very nice looking girl.
Dro looks like his is coming around...and passing the "goofy" look stage. He appears much tighter than he did when he was younger.
The only problem I see with the collar is simple pocket knife could still cut a dog free.

That's true I guess something with an integrated chain (or maybe chainmail) would be better.

Yeah, Dro is getting tighter. He is also getting WAY more obnoxious (in a good way). He bites your pants leg when you are dressing, blankets when you are folding and wants to play tug of war with just about everything. I have been doing basic OB with him, and when the weather breaks, he will be doing some foundation stuff for PP (other that the jute and burlap stuff I have been doing with him--you know, basic prey stuff). I will post when that occurs.
At any rate, the collar was to make it more difficult for a dog to be stolen, which would be the case if somebody had to cut double ply leather from he dogs neck. But at the end of the day, with chain cutters and other tools, there is probably no "fool proof" set up---this just makes it difficult for the average -"get in and get out" type of criminal.
The guy did ask if I wanted a metal plate b/t the 2 layers of leather, so that would make it even more difficult--although I did not get that.
Lastly...Lee, my neighbor Mike may be calling you. He was sold on a Corso, but after seeing Dro , he said he wanted "one of those". So I gave him your info.

Hey If you do not mind I would be interested in obtaining the info on your collar source. Tucker has almost outgrown the largest collar I can find (Tractor Supply). I might end up requiring something custom.

If you are concerned about theft you may want to obtain one of these. Not impossible to defeat but highly improbable!!

Thanks for the information about your neighbor. I spoke to him today. I could have sworn he said you sold a dog named "Kujo" to a guy in GA and I was thinking...no, I don't think so. I guess now he was saying "Dro" and I just didn't understand him, or maybe he misheard you. Anyway, I spoke to him, but if you see him let him know I would like to speak to him again. When he calls, tell him to remind me of "the "Big pup" or also the possibility of something off "Sandman."

@Dave--How is Tucker doing? He's about 8 months old now, right? the collar guy's company is www.pacocollars.com They have a line of collars, or they can design (customize) anything you can come up with (width, material, style etc..) Great to work with as well. As far as that spiked collar, well, that certainly would work--but when the dog get excited when he sees you and runs up on you---watch out!!!
@Lee-I will talk to him today. He does have an accent--I believe he is from Cuba or Dominican Republic--Anyway, I will have him call you today. TTYL

Thanks for sharing. I agree those spiked collars are a bit extreme however in some environments necessary.

Opps! I meant to also talk about Tucker he is nine months old and is 100 LBS and physically fit. He is a great dog smart, obedient, and protective as long as he is on his property. He gets some anxiety if confronted with something out of the ordinary off my property. That could be a result on my training methods etc. However I am REALLY impressed his gentleness & protectiveness with my children and their friends. We love him!!!

Hi dro, Sorry about your dog, was she an adult? I'm sure she wasn't a candidate for personal proection-i guess many pitbulls lack defense drive. Take care.
