Lee, I was wondering if due to the size difference, a female Swinford can be just as efficient in PP as a male? I guess what I am asking is can a female also stop a big guy as efficiently as a male would with the same drive, fighting abilities, ferocity, determination, strong bite, pain threshhold, etc... eventhough a female can typically be 20lbs-30lbs lighter than a male?

Thanks

First, let's assume we are talking about "apples to apples" as far as quality is concerned...meaning equal in their "representation of the breed." On that note..."effective" and "efficient" are not the same. A female is certainly just as efficient as a male pound for pound, but because they are generally 10-20# smaller (there usually isn't 30# difference between males and females from the same litter), they typically are not going to be as effective at sending a man/intruder backwards. Will they slow him down and stop him...yes, they will. Would Bullette or Lynn stop a man, they absolutely would. Will they send the man to his back like Preacher-Man or Linebaugh could...probably not with the same "slam dunk" authority.

Now, that said...if we are talking "apples to oranges" (meaning a big female vs a small male and that weigh the same)...that are otherwise equal in quality, then yes they would be equal in "efficiency" AND "effectiveness."

My point is other than size and power, I don't really see a consistent difference between males and females.  A lot of people prefer males and a lot of people prefer females. I think it simply comes down to the individual dog.

With that said, my females are about the same as my males. My biggest dog is China, she's 110+ now at 3 yrs. And i would trust her with my life. Efficient and effective. She's Champ's dam. I believe she would take a man down probably even put him on his back..she knocks me over whenever we're just playing...

Max's females are pretty big indeed. China is about 10+ pounds bigger than most of the females we produce. She was out of Levi x Bandit.
