I prefer not to decoy my own dogs, but at this stage of the game...either I do it or it doesn't get done. I do not recommend others do this unless they have decoyed many dogs that were not their own first in order to get an idea of the basics about decoy work. Unfortunately, our primary decoy, Wade Ford has since has moved to TX. The purpose of this video was to provide some basics on film for one of our new decoys. Our biggest hurdle over the years has been finding good decoys to work with...so I find myself doing more with my own dogs even though it may not be ideal. My wife and daughter are doing more handling to help with this matter, although they aren't seen in these videos. Still though, the dogs certainly know me and they are certainly more intense with decoys that are not their master, but we are working around that the best we can. This has not created any problems in the pack, as our dogs "turn off" and still see me as their master. Anyway...here is the video.

Here is a video of one of their pups at 10 weeks of age. He is still available.

I'm the camera man, but at the end of the first video I sound like I swallowed a frog.

I think it is not much of a problem working your own dogs as long as you are working strictly in prey drive.

I agree that prey drive isn't a problem as long as one is teaching the dog to focus on equipment, but I prefer more than that. I want the dog to work in fight drive and also to be aware of the man. This is why I like to keep some civil aggitation in my work. I have had a few of my own dogs I could do that with...Captain Skip, Chief, Snaps, Grit, Bandit, Tate, and a few others...but most of my own dogs had to be worked in prey when I worked them because of the bond I had with them.

Bar,

I also have a Mac and definately recommend Mozilla Firefox as your browser.

You will have to find a program at the apple site that is a free download that will allow you to play wmv videos but once downloaded and installed you will be able to enjoy the vids.
