Evaluations Methods, Picture Updates, & Pricing Methods

You may notice that the pictures only contain "group shots" until the pups are 4 weeks old. Prior to 4 weeks of age, it is impossible to make any significant evaluation of the puppies. Once the pups are 4 to 5 weeks old, we will then take individual photos and may also include some group videos of the pups. We will update the individual photos and group videos of the pups at 5-6 weeks and again at 7 weeks of age in order to help clients determine which puppy they wish to select. I would suggest that clients explain to me what they what they want from a pup and consider my recommendations, as I can certainly assist in placing the right pup into the right home; however, each client is provided the right to make their own decision according to their pick reservations. Pricing variation is not made on "pick order," but is based upon my description of the pup's potential as a working dog or pet class dog. Working class pups are generally priced at $1500, but may range from $1000-2500 depending on the breeding and what is available. All of our breeding dogs are evaluated and proven to have the traits to be working class specimens, but when determining price, generally it is offspring from my most "proven" dogs that cost the most, especially when a limited number of pups are available; however, we certainly do have several excellent working class dogs that are less show cased only because I am limited in how much time I can demo each dog. Some of these individuals may offer a working class specimen at a more affordable price and yet still be equally capable working class prospects. No dog or pup gets a "free ride" in our program. Each individual has to earn their classification by honest evaluation of performance measures. The ones that we find lacking in their desire or ability to excell at work are classified as pet class prospects. Pups or dogs that lack the required drive or that have some "fault" according to the Swinford standard are listed as pet class dogs are priced less than our working class dogs, and therefore they do not come with registration papers unless they are spayed or neutered. Of course, being the dogs are young when they are sold, we are open to clients not spaying or neutering their pet class pups should they wish not to but should that be the case they will not recieve registration papers on such dogs, as they should not be used in the Swinford breeding program.
