Dragon Lady Kennels (DLK)
Daniel Jones and his wife, Angie, own and operate Dragon Lady Kennels (DLK); however, DLKs functions as an extension of Chimera Kennels. If you are interested in their program, dogs, and/or breedings, the Joneses prefer that you contact me at chimerakennels@msn.com to screen their prospective clients. Although they are a family based operation, I completely endorse their operation as a result of their professionalism. Earning our endorsement for an extension program is not an easy task, as it requires extensive dedication, work, and commitment to the goals defined within the SSDA. It requires one to display commitment to select the best performing individuals. Although many people and programs have tried to earn my endorsement, to date very few have displayed the commitment to success the Joneses have displayed. For this reason, we have tried to assist the program at DLK. Throughout the years, DLK has earned co-ownership of several of our personal picks from some of our select breedings. Prior to owning and training Swinford K-9s, Daniel and Angie Jones had owned both German Shepherds and Rottweilers as family guard dogs; however, they have expressed that they truly became aware of what a true "Family Companion K-9 Guardian" and home protector was when they owned their first Swinford, Chimera's Draco. While training Draco as a Family Guardian, the Joneses ended up with a dog that became a member of their family, a trusted companion, and a loyal guardian...and this was the beginning of our relationship with the Joneses. A few years later, Dragon Lady Kennels was formed. Their dogs, although produced by Chimera Kennels, have been raised and are owned by DLK. The dogs at DLK are exceptional and should be viewed as equal in quality to our own personal dogs. Below, their dogs are listed in alphabetical order. Chimera's Damon, owned by DLK
Chimera's Damon is co-owned by Dragon Lady Kennels and Chimera Kennels. Damon is a littermate to Chimera's Tate. Damon and Tate both were my "picks" from a breeding between Levi and Chimera's Tora. When he was a pup, I had every intension of keeping Damon, as I liked him that much. I even named him and referred to him as "Bat-Man" when Damon was a pup, but due to the commitment displayed by my friends at DLK, I decided to "foster" this pick male with them. This dog is awesome. He is handled by both Daniel and Angie much of the time, but his true "owner" is their daughter, Kirsten, as seen in the picture on the left. Kirsten, you have one of my favorite dogs...literally!
Damon is a very fine dog and one that I myself would be pleased to own. His role is not on to be Kirsten's companion, but also to be her guardian...and at only 16 months old or so and 110# pounds, he already fills this role perfectly. With Kirsten, as with all members of the Jones family, Damon is a playful goofball; however, strangers certainly become aware of his presence. He moves very well, has excellent muscle tone, solid defense drives, and excellent endurance. He is a natural guardian and as he matures, rest assured he will only get better. Be certain, this dog will be used not only in DLK's program, but in our program here at Chimera Kennels as well...without any doubt!
Chimera's Draco, owned by DLK
Chimera's Draco is owned exclusively by Dragon Lady Kennels, and was the first Swinford type dog owned by the Jones family. Purchased as a pup, Draco was the beginning of what became a great friendship between me, Lee Robinson, and the Jones family. Although the Joneses have become close friends with us over the years and they have seen my dogs "up close and personal," it was Draco that "made believers" out of the Jones family.
Welcomed guests are accepted quickly by Draco even in their own home; however, Draco certainly makes his impression...and with a great deal of loyalty towards his family he will certainly engage a threat without hesitation should an intruder come into their home or should a guest get out of line. If you doubt this, just look at the photos below. That is me, Lee Robinson, who Draco is engaging in those photos. Draco is also very well built and packs considerable muscle and power in a body that confirmationally is near perfect. The picture to the right does not do Draco justice and I WILL BE UPDATING THIS PHOTO. Draco was produced out of a breeding between Chimera's Splash and Chimera's Bullette. At 3 1/2 years of age, Draco weighs just under 100#...and enjoys running miles when out at the hunting camp with his family.
Chimera's Reaper, owned by DLK
Chimera's Lady Reaper (call name Reaper) is owned and handled by Angie Jones. Reaper is double bred Sorrells' Captain Skip being out of Chimera's Chief and Chimera's Bandit...two very driven and efficient PP dogs. Reaper, although young, is a very athletic and promising prospect. More information will be posted about Reaper as she ages. She is a littermate to our girls Chimera's Annie Oakley and Chimera's Sister. Chimera's Saphira, owned by DLK
Chimera's Saphira co-owned by Dragon Lady Kennels and Chimera Kennels...and is a beast...truly. She is built like a male. Has drives that are never ending, packs the power of a hoss, and still yet she is very fast and agile...with endless endurance despite being just under 100#. She runs miles with the Joneses at the hunting camp and will outlast the best of competition. She is a younger sister to Chimera's Lucile and Chimera's Chili Pepper produced from a repeated breeding of Chimera's Preacher-Man and Chimera's Bullette. Lucile and Chili Pepper were pick females from the first breeding of Preacher-Man and Bullette, and I liked them so much I decided to repeat this breeding. From this repeated breeding, Saphira was the pick female...and given the dedication of DLK to the Swinford, we chose to offer Saphira as a gift to our friends at DLK. She is turning out to be an exceptional female.
Saphira is handled by both Daniel and Angie at times, but her primary owner is their son Dalton, who is pictured at the top of this page on the left. Saphira is Dalton's companion and guardian, and stays in his room throughout the night. Just as Damon is a goof ball with Kirsten, so is Saphira with Dalton, but still Saphira is a loyal protector as well. I plan on getting a pup out of this girl myself. I like her that much. She is a natural guardian, and has tons of prey drive, yet still, her natural defense drives are very strong as well. In combination with these traits, Saphira also display a great deal of stable mindedness making her an excellent candidate for PP training and she has taken to it naturally. Expect a lot from this girl in the years to come.
